Profile
Karl Ziegler graduated from the TU Kaiserslautern with a degree in Spatial and Environmental Planning. After a short period of freelance work, he returned to the TU Kaiserslautern in 1990 and has been working as a research assistant in various research groups in today's Department of Spatial and Environmental Planning ever since. His main areas of expertise, both in teaching and in predominantly application-oriented research, include urban development and rural planning.
For over 30 years, he has practiced cooperation with and provided services for a large number of municipalities in urban planning advisory and project-related functions. This close practical relevance provides excellent conditions for interlinking student teaching with real planning tasks and illustrating the practical relevance.
In the field of research, he carried out major projects and model projects on behalf of the GIZ, the Volkswagen Foundation and various ministries in Rhineland-Palatinate, among others, and was involved in an advisory capacity in various model projects.
