Research

Research at the Chair of Urban Planning covers a wide range of topics, e.g. sustainable urban development, urban design, social urban renewal, formal and informal urban planning instruments. One focus is climate change, with strategies for climate adaptation, climate-friendly urban redevelopment and energy-efficient neighborhoods. Another focus is on sustainable mobility, e.g. the effects of autonomous driving on public spaces and cycling. The spatial scope of the research projects ranges from specific urban planning issues and neighborhood development to topics of urban development and urban-rural relations. The research projects are generally carried out in interdisciplinary teams with a practical focus.
