Profile
Prof. Dr. Detlef Kurth is a registered urban planner in the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects and a member of SRL and DASL. He obtained a diploma in urban and regional planning at the TU Berlin in 1992. From 1992-1997 he worked for Planergemeinschaft Dubach, Kohlbrenner Berlin and was responsible for urban development, urban design and urban renewal projects in Berlin-Brandenburg. 1997-2003 he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund under Prof. Peter Zlonicky and Prof. Christa Reicher. There he taught and researched urban planning and urban renewal. In 2003, he completed his doctorate on urban renewal strategies for Berlin. From 2003-2017, he was Professor of Urban Development and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. Since 2017, he has held the professorship at the Chair of Urban Planning at RPTU in the Department of Spatial and Environmental Planning.
