The joint research college bundles six multidisciplinary cooperative doctoral projects at RPTU and Koblenz University of Applied Sciences over a period of three years. Under the title "Resilient transformation spaces - innovative strategies for sustainable and crisis-proof spatial development in rural low mountain regions", the projects examine various aspects of spatial development, such as planning cultures, inter-municipal processes or sustainability and climate adaptation.
The main focuses of the research college include
- Development of innovative concepts for resistant and resilient spatial development
- Investigating the consequences of flooding on the Ahr on settlement development
- Research into the possibilities and limitations of systematically implementing resilience aspects in planning instruments
The following questions in particular are being investigated by the Chair of Urban Planning:
- How can resilience aspects be anchored in formal and informal planning instruments in the future? How can risk and vulnerability analyses be implemented in urban development projects in terms of methodology and content?
- How can the preventive approach of adaptation and risk prevention be more strongly integrated into planning procedures and urban renewal in the future?
