Teaching
In teaching the department International Planning Systems (IPS) focuses on specific and practical studies by comparing spatial planning systems and spatial development strategies on different levels. Another focus is to show how these systems and strategies are integrated on national and international levels. Especially in the field of regional and urban development it is important to have an eye on international trends while planning on national level.
The department of International Planning Systems offers courses for students in the programmes 'Bachelor of Spatial Planning', 'Master of Urban and Regional Development' and 'Master of Environmental Planning and Law'. From winter term 2017/18 further courses will be offered for the 'Master Border Studies'. More details and materials of the courses will be offered on the OLAT platform.
Also the department has a considerable interest to enrich theoretical contents with practical experience. In addition to student projects taking place in bachelor and master courses, internationally renowned guest lectureres are invited to share their experiences. IPS is going to promote the exchange of experience on international subjects in the field of urban development and spatial planning and to arrange professional contacts for students.
Furthermore students are encouraged to study abroad themselves in order to gain experience in international planning. Important information on this can be found here.
