The “Spatial Planning” working group was founded as part of the University of the Greater Region (UniGR). It brings together researchers from the six partner universities who are dedicated to researching planning cultures in cross-border areas. The members are keen to enter into a dialog with planning practitioners working in the Greater Region (Lorraine/Grand Est, Luxembourg, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and Wallonia).
Objectives and key issues:
The thematic focus is on the different approaches as well as the challenges for spatial planning in a cross-border context of today and tomorrow. The aim is to examine in an experimental way what cross-border spatial planning can mean in practice. By working together with planning practitioners from all five sub-regions of the Greater Region, this exchange aims to create a platform for reflection that enables both cross-border fields of action and possible challenges to be identified.
