Digitisation, visualisation and monitoring in spatial planning
Welcome to the Department of Digitalization, Visualization and Monitoring in Spatial Planning.
In teaching and research, the department deals with digitalisation, digital but also analogue tools and methods and their significance for spatial planning from the neighbourhood level to the metropolitan region or beyond. The department is headed by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Martin Berchtold.
Visualization plays an essential role in planning and the communication of content. The department therefore focuses on planning methods that help to create the best possible picture of the problem or task in analysis, concept and design. The focus is on advancing planning approaches, thought structures and processes; this often does not require the most sophisticated technical solutions, but always thorough reflection, alert senses and openness to other perspectives.
These pages aim to provide information about the attitude, content and activities of the department, which was newly established in summer 2017, in teaching and research. They will be successively developed and expanded.
The department is also happy to answer any questions and suggestions personally.
